My students are an amazing group of scholars who attend a Title 1 school in the heart of Fredericksburg City. All students come to school ready to learn and be part of a "family." Together, my students, create a classroom that is fun, creative, caring, and happy.
Each student has the ability and drive to learn new and amazing things.
My diverse group of 4th graders spend their time focusing on how to be innovative and well-rounded learners. They always ask questions, strive to help myself and others, collaborate with one another, and engage in many different activities.
My Project
The cubbies in our classroom have always been a chore. With two classrooms of 27 students, our cubbies can instantly get out of hand. Student work can be lost, accidentally thrown away, or just get completely unorganized. I found that myself and my students spend too much time trying to find lost items or items that are unorganized. We wanted to find a solution to the Cubby Monster by getting Storex Large Book Bins to place student supplies in. The supplies consist of laptops, notebooks, folders, crayon boxes, agendas, and binders. Each student would get their own book bin to use for the duration of the school year.
The need for cubby storage will help students become more organized and responsible with all of their belongings.
The goal of the project is to place two book bins within each cubby to house students day-to-day supplies. At our school we are departmentalized meaning I have two sets of students that switch half way through the day. As well as being departmentalized, I also have a flexible seating classroom. This means that students do not have a desk to house their materials, but are instead able to use a cubby that is shared with a student from my other classroom. The need to have organized spaces for these students are imperative to have our daily schedule run smoothly. The large book bins will be able to store all their materials. I plan to clearly label the book bins for each student and teach students how to organize their materials for proper success.
