My Students
As a teacher in a high poverty school district, I work with students that are faced with challenges in and outside the classroom. Despite the challenges my students face, they persevere. My students are high energy, communicative, and enthusiastic learners. They have a lot of energy and are always looking for a fun way to learn. They love to get involved with the lesson in whatever way possible.
My students love to show off their work and teach their peers.
They are excited to teach each other, both in groups and in front of the class. My students are visual learners. They love to use different resources in the room to show learning strategies to their friends. The students are a great group of mathematicians, scientists, writers, and artists.
My Project
My classroom has a wonderful problem, we have too many books. The books are taking over the shelves, counters, and floor. We have stacks of books here, there, and everywhere. It’s a wonderful problem to have, but with so many books we have a hard time keeping them organized. My students and I have brainstormed many different ways to keep the books organized, but they always end up disorganized at the end of the day.
We recently received eight baskets, unfortunately, only a fourth of our books will fit in the baskets, we need ten more to help get more of the books organized.
A shelf currently holds 60 books, but a shelf with baskets can hold 68 books. Being able to add eight additional books to the shelf will help organize the books.
Baskets will allow us to group books that are by the same author and books in the same series in one spot. By placing some of the books in baskets it will also clear up some shelf space to put the rest of the books on the shelf.
