This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from a low-income, high poverty area of town. They are very diverse and many of them speak very little English. They have to work extra hard to learn as they have to learn the language as well as content. My students are sweet and highly motivated to learn. They love school as it is a safe and loving environment. Twenty-five percent of our students were directly affected by Hurricane Harvey making it difficult to get the supplies and resources they need for school.
My Project
My students need a variety of differentiated activities in reading and in math in order to gain knowledge and understanding of the skills they are taught. These storage drawers and storage containers will help us organize all of the different activities and materials needed in a way that provides easy access and easy clean up. My students will be able to pick a container and go work on the activity individually of with a partner. They will then be able to quickly clean up and put the activity away in a convenient place. This will help them to practice and reinforce the skills learned in class.
