I am a first grade teacher in a low income school in CT. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. My classroom is full of 25 active, enthusiastic learners striving to become better readers, and writers! I strive to make my classroom a safe and enjoyable "home" for my firsties. I believe that a child's emotional growth and well-being is just as important- sometimes more- than academic growth. In my room we love reading, playing, learning, and making friends.
Having personalized mailboxes will help students stay organized and less cluttered. First graders are learning to be more independent learners. In order to achieve this goal, students need to be responsible learners. If each student has a mailbox to keep materials. It will help them be more organized and ready to learn. Transition times will be cut down, and directions on where to put finished work will be eliminated.
Having a wooden, sturdy mailboxes will prove to guide my students into being more independent learners.
Please consider helping my students become more accountable for their learning, by becoming organized workers.
