My 3rd grade class is from central Indiana. They are a beautiful mix of cultures from all over the world. Each child has diverse learning goals so it important for me to expose each student to a safe classroom environment not only where he/she can come to share his/her ideas but also learn in various ways.
My students are smart and love to learn.
They learn best in an organized and structured environment. I try to do as many hands on activities as possible to keep my students moving and engaged on the task at hand.
With our new reading curriculum students are to read a particular genera for an extended period of time. The materials for this project are crucial for the success of this. I need to start organizing my classroom library in sections. I would like to have a fiction section and nonfiction section. Beyond that I would like to break it down into even more specific genres such as mystery, biography, graphic novels, poetry, etc.
The bookcase with reading nook will allow me to start organizing in a way that is meaningful to my students while also providing a comfortable place to read and work.
I want my students to be able to easily find what they are looking for in our classroom library. These tools will be very helpful for me to reach my end goal.
