I am a first year biology teacher who is excited about raising student achievement in California. I work with inquisitive students who are making great strides in learning their subject matter.

After pressing the importance of having supplies in class, only a few students came to class with a binder. Without binders students are often losing important papers and taking time away from class to find documents. I soon realized that it is not the importance of a binder that students don't understand. Many students simply can not afford a resource that is vital to the learning process - a binder.

My class would greatly appreciate binders. Restarting my class with a functional binder system will lead to an efficient learning environment. Having binders in class will allow students to organize themselves and to be able to focus on what is important - biology.
