My students need a work organizer to keep their assignments from being lost before they can make it home! We also need a class set of sturdy headphones, and some play dough to keep things fun!
Our classroom is a vibrant, diverse community of learners. We come from many different countries, and speak more than 12 languages including Arabic, Somali, Karen, Vietnamese, Spanish, Russian, Burmese, and English. Our school is in an urban area and many of our students came to the United States as refugees. 100% of the students in our school receive free breakfast and lunch.
We love to sing, dance, read, write, and play!
Our classroom is full of books and games that help us learn. We love to share, cooperate, and learn together. In our school we are always safe, respectful, and responsible.
My Project
Our underfunded schools lack some of the basic necessities that a classroom needs. With a class set of sturdy headphones, my language learning 1st graders will be able to access an amazing computer program called Imagine Learning. Inexpensive headphones break very easily- these heavy-duty and kid-friendly headphones will last for a few years rather than a few days!
Learning through play is an essential part of a 1st grade classroom.
That's where the play dough comes in! My students will pat, squeeze, and roll their way through numbers and letters with the play dough and tools.
Finally, we need a way to keep important work and letters home from being lost. My students need a classroom work organizer to keep their going-home work nice and neat.
