Organizing Harvey's Mathematical Mess

My students need bookcases to improve the storage in our classroom. We are currently living out of boxes and have a hard time getting to books and other classroom materials.

My Students

Orangefield High School is part of a small school district in Southeast Texas. Our school culture is very much a family environment and has grown even more so since the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.

Our kids have been absolutely amazing in adapting to the changes that have taken place this year.

They've had classes in the gym, band hall, cafeteria, classrooms with partial plywood walls, etc. They've been packed into tight places and we've been living out of boxes. They've come together in helping each other rebuild their homes and put their lives back together. I could not be more proud of these kids and I believe they deserve to have their school and each classroom put back together.

My Project

I am requesting two bookcases to replace what was lost due to hurricane Harvey. Currently, we are digging through boxes for materials and books. This shelving will help us organize the classroom to allow students easy access to more materials. This will save class time and prep time when preparing for lessons and greatly help student learning.

Our students deserve to have their classrooms put back in order.

They are absolutely amazing kids and just want their lives put back to normal. Some of them are still not in their homes and I would love for them to have some sense of normalcy.
