My students need storage containers, clipboards and fraction sticks. These items will be used to keep school supplies organized and to allow the kids to work while on the move.
No thanks to Hurricane Harvey, my students started the school year without a classroom. They have moved to multiple locations, while trying to maintain normalcy within the selected room we are working out of.
My 5th grade grade math students are dealing with a lot this school year; many are still displaced and lacking the security and familiarity of a stable home.
With over half of my students qualifying as low socioeconomic, they enjoy being away from a soiled home and the financial struggles that come with it.

My Project
Our junior high students bring their school supplies on the first day of school each year and as a teacher we struggle where to put them all. Assigning a small storage container for each student will allow them to keep their belonging together.
Additionally, dry erase clipboards will give students the opportunity to learn while on the move.
These boards allow kids to work for an alternate location other than a desk; something that they often need.
Lastly, fractions sticks are great visuals. They allow for kids to work hands-on, while learning how to compare different sizes. Having a class set, one for each student, will be wonderful!
