My students are from New York City and will be 3rd graders in September. My students come from low income families and need every advantage they can get. They face many challenges outside of school, but they work hard in school to succeed. I want to create a safe, organized and fun learning environment.
This is a big year for my class; it's their first year of testing!
This can be a stressful time for students. I want to teach them how to be organized and work in a way that will reduce their stress. I teach students with disabilities and lack of organization can create a huge barrier in their education. It's hard to complete a task when you have misplaced the necessary materials.
My Project
ChairMates will be used to teach my students how to become organized and stay organized. Students will keep dry erase markers, whiteboards, and any manipulatives they may need to complete a task. I’m also requesting classroom supplies and organizational materials such as pocket charts, dry erase markers and adhesive dry erase laminate.
I want to give my students every advantage to be successful!
Students are constantly moving from group to group and to different centers. They often misplace materials. They will now be able to move their own chair from group to group and have their materials with them at all times. No more getting to reading center with out a pencil or folder. No more math group without counters or base 10 blocks.
