Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have very big hearts and truly make do with what they have. For some, school is their safe haven from extremely poverty stricken and violent homes. My students are in a very low-income community. They are kind and loving but may not get all the things they need. I have really gotten to know these students in our building and their families very well. I have already learned that I have children who come from needy families. Some of my children come from split families where they may or may not see one or both parents. I am very lucky to be able to touch these kiddos' lives. They are very creative and love to be able to explore their learning world through my classroom.
Each child in the class has his or her own unique personality that has really brought our community together.
They are very creative and are starting to really enjoy the academic world and are improving every day.
My Project
I just recently had a baby in April, and she came three weeks early. Due to this amazing turn in my life, I was out for the rest of the school year on maternity. The students in my classroom at the time did not react to this separation very well and unfortunately a lot of items in the classroom got turned upside down or broken and need replacing. I really want my next class to have a wonderful experience and need to replace these items to do it for them.
Organization in the classroom is the key to a successful school year.
It helps those with special needs function in the classroom with routine and structure. The book boxes, book bags, and shelf will really help students with the organization of the literacy block. The magnetic writing paper will help students organize their ideas during writing lessons. The pocket chart will help to quickly see who is attending class, and this helps organize for safety. Everything that is requested will help start the school year off with a bang.
