Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our "country school" serves approximately 500 culturally and socioeconomically diverse students from grades K through 8. We are centered in a small rural community, and most of our families work in agriculture. The majority of our students have attended our school since kindergarten, and each year they look forward to teachers, trips, and activities that have become traditions over the decades.
My class is preparing for their future college and career paths by learning new strategies for organized note-taking using AVID strategies.
We are practicing standard 2 column notes, sketch notes, and one-pagers. Students would love access to tools like highlighters, colored pencils, crayons, and markers to make their notes clear, memorable, and useful when studying or showing their understanding.
My Project
These materials will assist my students in creating focused notes. Students will explore different styles of note-taking from 2 and 3 column notes to sketch notes. These supplies will help students organize their learning and make it memorable!
We are working on implementing AVID strategies in our classroom to prepare students for future college and career paths.
When students go through the learning process, they must make a point to record their learning, revisit what they have learned and reflect on that information. This will be a life long skill!
