My students are energetic, highly motivated English Language Learners from many different Spanish-speaking countries.
Most of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, lack educational opportunities, and have not been exposed to many cultural influences. However, they do not let any of these obstacles stand in their way.
My Project
I began preparing for the 2020-2021 academic school year during the summer. I knew that there were several math manipulatives that I needed in larger quantities in order to meet district Covid-19 guidelines. So, I wrote several grants for hands-on math tools and all were funded. However, I did not think about where all of these awesome resources would be stored.

Teachers should strategically place furniture, learning centers, and materials in order to optimize student learning and reduce distractions. Acquiring a new bookshelf and a couple of storage stools will enable me to give the students the optimal learning environment where they can easily access the tools they need to be successful with math.
