Our elementary school was faced with a nightmare that no one ever wants to face. In August, Hurricane Harvey came to our area and brought lots of water. Our school received two to four inches of water in the entire school. Not only did our students lose their school, they also lost their homes and pets and some had to be boated out of their neighborhood from their rooftops.
This storm has impacted our daily lives but we are trying to make the best of it.
A lot of our school activities and supplies were damaged in the storm. We are currently holding school at a local church and we are very grateful for this. The students are adjusting well but it's still not the same.
My Project
When a classroom is organized and students know where to find materials it makes for a well-oiled classroom. Students want to be independent and get materials on their own. With the cubbies I am asking for, this will allow students to have access to different math manipulatives. Allowing students to use these will help build self-confidence and a stronger love for math.
Staying organized is something I strive for in my classroom.
I try and teach my students how to stay organized so they can carry it over in their everyday lives. Having an organized classroom makes for a fun learning environment.
