Help me give my students an organized library. My students need bookshelves to organize our classroom library of books. Bookshelves will help us level our books and other reading materials for easier access.
Peek into my classroom on any given day and you will see second graders challenging themselves to learn, grow, and develop as wonderful human beings. There isn't a single way to describe us. We are a busy classroom full of eager learners. We are a melting pot of cultures, learning and growing from each other. We are part of a larger school that celebrates the inclusion of each and every student.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.
Our school is in a small, rural community, and my students come from many walks of life. We have future farmers, who will operate and run family farms. We have students who share their passion for art, literature, and video game design. Second graders are inquisitive and eager to do the hard stuff. We’re exploring and explaining through our learning. Students are able to share and make personal connections with one another. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships and building a classroom community. We celebrate little wins together each day.
My Project
Our class library is currently leveled according to the Accelerated Reader's ZPD, or zone of proximal development. The ZPD identifies a readability range from which students should be selecting books in order to achieve optimal growth in reading skills without experience frustration.
These bookshelves will help us organize our library and related materials to maximize our book selections and our limited classroom space.
Our books and other reading materials have far outgrown our current storage system, and it can make it difficult to find the appropriate materials, wasting valuable reading time. We would love new, updated bookshelves to keep us organized and busy reading.
