"Everyone can learn" we practice everyday in our Kindergarten classroom.
I work at a Title 1 school where students and their families are challenged financially and emotionally.
The fascinating thing is that they do want to learn and I am there to make it learning fun. I can see how what we learn today will impact their tomorrow. They love to ask questions, to pretend , they are curious . Many students do not have a great foundation before Kindergarten but they are so eager to learn. They are so proud to know the world around them , read and write , count, subtract , add. The most satisfying is when they can apply those skills in real life though. I catch them all the time making a connection between what we learned and the world around us. Even they learn at different speed they can understand that learning can help them solve problems , have fun with their friends while they create and use their knowledge and imagination while they learn.
My Project
My Kindergarten students come with a variety of backgrounds. The majority were not exposed to Pre-K . Many of them lack of organization skills. They came a long way since the beginning of the year and learned to clean up and put all the objects where they belong and where they will find them for the next time. I have many books in our classroom but the little library shelf is falling apart. The books would be on display where the students could spot the needed book . They would also be able to put the books back in the right spot avoiding chaos. Each student in my class would have the opportunity to take turns during the reading centers to enjoy time at the library while reading which their partner good books they find on the nice shelf. Your donation would help organize our classroom library, teach pride of keeping each student's space nice and encourage reading at the same time. We would be very grateful to be able to use this shelf in our friendly classroom!
