Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every day I wake up, go to school, and receive seventeen of the most wonderful hugs I have ever known. Many of my students come from lower-income families, but come to school ready to learn, love, and share. All my students are English Language Learners and, although most were born here, their families are from Brazil and speak only Portuguese in the home.
Some of our students come to school without academic and social skills that are associated with their grade level; which is why 3 of my students come to school early for tutoring.
In addition, our ESL teacher comes in 1 hour a day to service those brand new to the country.
My Project
I am requesting chair pockets to help my students develop their organizational skills. The chair pockets will hold their folders and workbooks, journals, as well as pencils and other art supplies. These tools will be regularly used through out the school day and it is important that the students can access them quickly. Since we use tables in my Kindergarten classroom, chair pockets are a great way to store their belongings.
You donation will not only benefit students this year, but will also aid students in the years to come.
Our school prides itself on developing students who are college and career ready. Today's Kindergartners will be tomorrow's leaders. Our students are capable of succeeding. They are so lovable and its our job to teach them the skills they will need to grow in society which includes being organized.
