Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are some of the most resilient, energetic, and inspiring young people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They are leaders and role models for each other and come from a variety of backgrounds.
In spite of every challenge they have previously overcome, including Hurricane Irma and Maria last year, my students show up to class daily ready to learn.
They are excited about their future and all of the possibility that awaits them. While they are aware it will take a lot of work and dedication to get there, I have never met a more capable group of young people.
My Project
Wow! The years have flown by and now my students are in the 11th and 12th grade and preparing for their post-high school lives. The current atmosphere in my classroom is one of both excitement and nervousness as we begin to unpack all of the possibilities the future holds for my amazing students.
My students need academic planners, career exploration and college preparation books, writing utensils, and stickers in order to get organized and prepared for life after high school!
Having these resources added to our classroom will provide my students with the opportunity to LEVEL UP their organization skills! Becoming career-ready, workforce-equipped, and college-prepared are tasks that require an immense level of organization. To that end, bring on the PLANNERS! With the planners, the assortment of writing utensils, and the variety of stickers requested in this project my students will be able to discover the joy of becoming detail-oriented as they keep track of important dates and deadlines on their journey to being career-ready, workforce-equipped, and college-prepared.
In addition to the planners having copies of the books requested in this project will allow my students to have access to texts focused on career exploration, personal development, and college prep. Reading these texts will allow them to utilize critical thinking skills and apply them to real-life situations as they make important decisions about their long-term life goals and aspirations.
Adding these items to our classroom will prove beneficial to the collective and individual goals of my students as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives! These supplies will help them get organized, meet deadlines, and achieve their post-high school goals!
