Help me give my students basic supplies and an organized classroom! These items will help my students with their day to day activities and allow them to learn in an organized, well-stocked environment!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I currently service students with varying degrees of hearing loss. Many of my students use American Sign Language as a primary mode of communication. Located on the Northwest side of Milwaukee, Milwaukee Sign Language School is home to approximately 550 students. Roughly 89% of our students come from economically disadvantaged homes.
My students are the light of my life.
I've been fortunate enough to loop with this group of young folks, some for the fourth year in a row. Because our school follows a framework model, my students are partially mainstreamed into regular education classes and come to my classroom for small group, specialized instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, self-advocacy, and language.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my classroom by allowing my students to have access to a variety of supplies in an organized environment. My students use dry erase markers and white boards daily for literacy and mathematics. Basic supplies, such as erasers and glue, are used up quickly in our classroom. These supplies will allow my students to maintain their interactive notebooks for literacy and will serve as key tools for small group math.
Most of my students come to class with no supplies, so it is essential that I have materials and supplies readily available in an organized manner.
My students benefit from structure and organization. These materials will allow us to prosper academically in an environment that is conducive to learning.
