Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a very diverse bunch this year that come from a title 1 school. The majority of my kids were affected from Hurricane Harvey. I have students who are in the Gifted and Talented program, students who have special needs, students who learned English as their second language, and non English speaking students!
They are so sweet and all learn so differently.
I have to differentiate like crazy! I noticed the best way they learn is through centers! We start off as whole group, but their main learning is when they are in a small group! They enjoy the hands on experience and taking learning into their hands.
My Project
I am asking for help getting manipulatives, center games and classroom resources to create centers for my students. I like to print and laminate center games, game boards, task cards and other printables for the student to use. I’d also need containers to organize the centers as it can get a little chaotic without organization.
My project needs these materials to provide me resources to create meaningful work stations for my students.
I will be able to organize stations for my student to complete on their own in small groups. Small group time is when the students work together to learn and the teacher is able to work with a group to strengthen their skills.
Work stations allow the student to take learning into their own hands in a fun and meaningful way. Students get to work on their level during small group time with a station that is on their level. There is more room for success because students can select the station they will be successful on. Differentiation at its best!
I love work stations. It makes class fun and makes the student do the work and the teacher the facilitator. The teacher can pull groups during station time instead of teaching the whole class.
