My students need additional materials like display stands, dry erase signs, poster Post-Its, dry erase pockets, and headphone splitters to keep them organized and engaged at center time.
We are a fourth grade team of 57 students in suburban Pittsburgh, PA from a 4-6 building. Being a fourth grader is tough work as it is the first year with many new faces all combining from the district's five primary schools. The students love having their own lockers (with locks!) and a bit more freedom in the bigger school. We love to read and collaborate. We take pride in our learning and work hard to prepare for the future.
My Project
Center time can be a very hectic time without the proper materials. The addition of the display stands, dry erase signs, poster Post-Its, dry erase pockets, and headphone splitters will keep all students on track and engaged when they are working independently.
A huge benefit of center time is that all students are engaged in different activities for short amounts of time.
The display stands, dry erase signs, and poster Post-Its will provide needed information about the activity and expectations at each center. The dry erase pockets will allow students to be engaged in an activity while also saving paper. Students will also be able to utilize the headphone splitters when listening to our story for the week or watching a video while researching.
These materials will increase student engagement and keep all students organized while the class completes centers. The increased engagement will allow students to connect with the material on a deeper level and help all students learn more.
