This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are first graders in a school now servicing grades K-3. This is a high poverty district. They face many challenges outside of school, and for some, school is the only constant in their lives. So many look forward to school each day.
For some, it may be the free breakfast and lunch.
For others, it's the opportunity to interact with friends and caring teachers. And of course, many come eager to learn.
For whatever reason they choose to come or want to come into school, I want to make it the best experience possible. I tried my hardest to make them feel comfortable, provide what they need, and create a learning environment where they can all succeed.
My Project
I'm already looking ahead to the next school year. One of our biggest and most time consuming issues-was lack of organization. This was not only on the students part but mine as well. We waste so much time looking for materials, rearranging chairs, etc. for lessons. I feel storage bins and caddies can help us in having quick and easy access to supplies.
I am so excited to think of the possibility of receiving these materials for the upcoming school year.
I am already thinking of how much more efficient my classroom could be next year.
