Mrs. Lee from Indianapolis IN is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need challenging books, tubs for organizing supplies, and erasers for our dry erase markers.

My students love increasing their reading level throughout the year, and I love using authentic texts in my classroom. Our classroom library is lacking books which will challenge my students.
We are in a high poverty urban area where students need to be engaged in authentic literacy.
About 78% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. In my fifth grade classroom, I have about 25 students with a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, cultures, and needs. Our school has about 700 students from kindergarten through 6th grade. My students are energetic, and they get excited about books!
To keep this energy up during reading, I like to create a culture of readers. My goal is to create a life-long love of reading that will follow them wherever they choose to go in life. In order to do this, I must provide engaging texts for students. Students will use the books when they get to choose what books to read. Our classroom library has books for lower level readers but not enough books for higher readers who need to be challenged. The erasers will be used when students respond to reading with their dry erase markers. We need something more efficient than a tissue to wipe off the marker. The organizational containers will be used on students' desks to help organize classroom supplies, like pencils, crayons, and scissors.
This project is very important because it helps place books into kids' hands!
Your donation will make a difference on my kids this year, and for many years to come. I have to pass this love of reading along and challenge students to become better readers!
