My students are energetic and eager little learners who come to me each day with a desire to learn. My students are children of military parents and deal with so many more situations than most adults due to the deployment of parents, moving every two to three years, and having to start over again.
They are sponges just waiting to soak up whatever information that they can.
I strive daily to provide them with a safe and inviting learning environment and make learning fun and relevant to them.
My Project
From the first day that my students walk through our classroom door, they are learning how to do things independently. We do lots of opening, closing, zipping, buttoning, and snapping for the first month but we expect the students to start doing things on their own. This includes picking up and putting all toys, counters, and craft supplies back into their storage boxes. I have purchased cheaper boxes in the past and they have not held up due to rough play and being of lesser quality. I am asking for storage boxes to keep our room organized and easily accessible to not only myself but also my students as they navigate towards independence. I am also asking for photo pockets for check-in procedures when the students arrive. These will be great for students to recognize their classmates and also begin to recognize not only their name but the names of their friends.
