Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My amazing kinder students love to dance and do anything hands-on. They are "big kids" that want to do things themselves. Their favorite things are stations and acting out stories. They act their hearts out and use their best facial expressions every time. Of course, they are always smiling and just love to help anyone. If a friend ever needs a specific color crayon almost everyone will jump up with that color in hand. They are learning so much and very excited to be better to readers.
My students’ first year of school was unfortunately marked by Hurricane Harvey.
I still hear murmurs of it whenever it rains, but they also remind each other that it is going to be okay and they love to wish each well. My students live in an area heavily affected by the hurricane and attend a Title I school where more than 95% of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Despite the challenging start to their school career, the students in this area are resilient and have shown that nothing can stop them.
My Project
Organization makes the heart sing! This shelf will become a centralized one stop shop for supplies. Organization of the essentials like paper, scissors, and glue will help students see what they need and get started quickly on learning. Nobody will ask where are the scissors? You will see what you need from anywhere in the room. Accessible supplies will foster community and independence in the classroom for all students.
This project will create a happy home for organized student supplies and cultivate independence in the classroom.
The shelf will house all student school supplies, such as notebooks, folders, glue, crayons, markers. The caddies will also give supplies a fun home students will want to keep clean. On this shelf everything has a place and everyone will take pride in keeping it that way.
