Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in a high poverty neighborhood school with 100% of students receiving free or reduced priced lunch. Many of my students come from broken or unstable homes where education is not the priority, survival is. My students enjoy coming to school each day and are always eager to learn new things. Every day they work hard and they deserve to have a classroom full of materials to help them learn.

Many of my students struggle to remain focused during lessons or while working.

Being able to move is a need. It can be a challenge working in a Title I school but I love my students and want to provide everything necessary to help them be successful.

My Project

This year, I will be teaching reading groups throughout the day to many groups of students. These carts will keep all of our needed materials close during reading groups. Time can be wasted looking for supplies but these carts will keep all of our needed supplies near.

These carts will hold the books needed for various reading groups and any other supplies needed like letters, dry-erase boards, markers, cards, and games.

Both of these carts have wheels on the bottom of them to easily be rolled down the hall in order for me to take our supplies to other classrooms or to the library when needed.
