My students need a teacher who is organized! Next to proper prior planning a teacher must be organized to be effective. In class, we need bins, folders and a cart to organize our supplies and papers.
On a daily basis, I enter my classroom knowing I'm about to be bombarded by 28, 4-foot something, first grade bundles of energy, who are ready to receive whatever I have to give! These students are inquisitive, honest, funny and unspoiled.
They are inquisitive when they ask me so many questions that I have to give them a question limit per day.
They show they are honest, when they tell me exactly what they think of my outfit that day whether a compliment or complaint. They are funny without even trying. They are honest when they own up to doing the wrong thing. And as a result of all of these things, they have to be unspoiled.
Their willingness to tell the truth, even if it is unintentionally hurtful or funny, asking appropriate and inappropriate questions, the ability to laugh and make others laugh, even at themselves is evidence that they are like balls of clay, waiting to be molded.
My Project
Being organized makes for effective teaching. Having bins, file folders and organizing carts will create an environment that is functional and attractive.
In class, students need to be able to access resources and materials with ease.
Having equipment that is compartmentalized and streamlined so students can get in and out of it makes for a classroom that first graders can navigate.
Research shows that one of the ways students learn best is to read books and to be read too. Having topic specific books that we can explore and learn from helps to fulfill the purpose of all schools.
In conclusion, resources, books and equipment are necessary for an effective classroom experience.
