Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade teacher in a beautifully blended class of multi-leveled learners. The future is full of possibilities for these curious children. Encouraging each child to strive to reach their full potential is my fundamental classroom goal. Our school is classified as a low socio-economic. Of my 23 second graders, 5 are severely below grade level, 2 are retained, 4 are identified as Gifted, and in its entirety each of my 23 students deserve the best that second grade can offer them.
Organize me!
In the hustle and bustle of our busy day, workstations and materials get scattered and mislaid around the classroom. This shelf station and easel will allow my students independent access to workstation materials and supplies.
My Project
My students need a little help organizing their workstation materials. This cart will allow them to quickly find and return workstation games and supplies to one central location. The colored drawers/bins will help children rapidly locate needed items for their group learning game. The mini whiteboard will meet a variety of classroom needs. Children can easily see workstation requirements when instructions are written on the board. At other times the white board will become an additional workstation providing space for partner writing, revise and edit.
Helping students become independent and organized will give them more time to focus on learning objectives and build self-confidence.
Independent learners also allow more one to one guidance time for teachers.
