This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
One of the goals in our classroom is to create independent, contributing young adults.
We are 6th, 7th and 8th grade special education students working together in one classroom with three teachers.
While each teacher has their own desk in a separate corner of the room we share our working space and supplies. Most of the students in our school choose to come here because it is the safest school in the city. We also provide free breakfast and lunch for all of our students.
My Project
My students need two 6-Drawer Mobile Organizer systems for classroom supplies. Becoming self-sufficient, organized, and responsible is important in our classroom. Having a specific place to find supplies and then returning them to the same place when they are no longer needed is a big step in the right direction. These organizational carts will help us do just that!
The organizational strategies learned at school can be transferred to other settings, including home and eventually work.
These are life-long lessons that will improve our students' lives.
