I teach in a rural community where most students are a generational high school only graduates. Our students do not believe they can achieve a post-secondary education. My students are hard working with a few of them being the sole provider for their family. Some even work two jobs in addition to attending school just to achieve the dream of being the first in their family to attend college.
Nothing should stand in your way of a dream.
In a school that is about as culturally diverse as you can get, with a majority of low income, economically disadvantaged students, each student brings something unique to the high school experience. They can take their future into their own hands, and get what products they need. Helpful applications will be available without having to hunt down teachers or wait for overloaded staff.
My Project
My students need a calendar and colored labels to keep track of due dates, work load, and events throughout the school year. The colored paper will color code their quote sheets, spread layouts, and order forms. By being organized these students will meet all their deadlines and complete all their work to succeed.
Keeping track of everything going on in a high school is incredibly hard.
This project will visually show the students their progress and responsibilities over the year. This is crucial to ensuring everything gets accomplished. By seeing their byline on a page, students will feel the accomplishment they work for all year.
