Our school addresses the needs of Kindergarten aged children with Autism in a high needs community in New York. In September of 2009 our doors opened for the first time. The site began with limited funding and maximum needs. Our students have a range of developmental, academic and social limitations.

My students do not have individual desks; therefore they do not have a place to put their workbooks. Part of our day incorporates TEACCH, which is a technique used to help students with Autism understand the world around them, help them acquire communication skills, and helps them work independently. The TEACCH method provides the individual with structure and organization.

The Baltic Birch Sectional Mobile Cubby Unit w/ 15 Colored Trays will help provide organization in my students' classroom. The colored cubby trays will be used to hold different activities. When students are working independently they will have a color-coded schedule that will help them know what is next to complete their independent work schedule.

You can help by providing organization for my students. Organization and routine are important and this piece of furniture can really help them be more organized.
