My Students

I currently teach a wonderful group of 28 second grade students. Within this group, we work hard together to manage a respectful and helpful learning environment for all students who enter the room. We have a nice balance of boys to girls, but everyone is unique in their own ways, giving our classroom a flare of flavor.

A mixture of all levels in every subject is found in our classroom.

I have students that are already reading on a third grade level while others are on a Pre-K or below reading level.

During the economic challenges that many people encounter, reaching out and asking for help is sometimes the best way to make sure the leaders of the future are guided the best way possible. While asking parents for any donations possible, some communities (like ours) are not able to give the extra. Some of the students in the class are barely able to make ends meet, and we try to work together in the best way possible to provide missing materials.

My Project

The items for this project will help the students become more confident and organized as they continue their education. Students will use the portfolios to gain confidence in answers as they are completing work and assessments. The portfolio holder is to help maintain the organization in the classroom and to help maintain the longevity of the portfolios. The dry erase covers will assist students with small group activities so not as much paper will be needed for them and it makes learning more fun when they can use the markers. We use dry erase markers everyday in class to keep students engaged in learning and they love it. The only downfall is that we go through a lot of markers. The paper bins are to go with each table group for them to turn in their papers to minimize distractions of people moving around and to avoid any conflicts between students.
