Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are amazing! We are a Title I School, with 80% of our students learning English as a second language. Many of our families do not have the ability to support our classrooms outside of ensuring that their kids are at school. This is not because they don't value school. It's quite the contrary. We have AMAZING family support for our neighborhood school, and this is evident during our family conferences, STEM nights, and other community building events. Financially, we do not have the same level of community donations as other local schools, and this is where the greatest impact of funding is apparent.
Our kids face many challenges, and yet, they are meeting their goals and achieving excellence!
Preparing our kids to be active and successful, contributing member of society is our focus. We have integrated STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) into our content units of study. There are times we need additional supplies to supplement our studies. We thank generous donors for supporting our rigorous learning opportunities!
My Project
By donating to this project, you will support students in learning how to organize materials, using COLOR! Students need to learn how to organize materials, as this is critical to success throughout their working and home lives.
Using color and supporting continued organizational upkeep through incentives, students learn how to maintain an organization system for success.
Our fourth grade students are working on executive functioning skills, which include the following skills:
Initiation, reasoning, planning, mental flexibility, and organization. The items requested for this grant will help support the development of these skills, that are so necessary to manage life, school, and work tasks.
