Help me give my students supplies to enhance the accessibility to important materials. Items like containers will support my student's learning. For example, the word wall container, which displays new words, will support my student's English language acquisition.

My creative, bright, and deserving 11th grade students have recently immigrated to the U.S. to pursue safer, more prosperous futures. 22% of students at OIHS are refugees who have escaped some of the world’s most violent and protracted conflicts. My students come from diverse countries including Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Yemen, Eritrea, Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan, and are learning English. For some students, access to education in their home countries was limited or denied. Our school is a full-service community school, which means we focus heavily on social and emotional wellness, providing and connecting families to essential resources.
I strive to create the best possible learning environment for my amazing students-- a welcoming space full of opportunities, supplies, and comfort.
After moving to OIHS and resettling in a new classroom, I'm trying to rebuild my classroom. I need your help to purchase some items to create a beautiful, organized learning environment.
I'm hoping to purchase items that will create greater classroom organization and accessibility to learning tools. Wall folders organizers will enable students to quickly find their schoolwork so they can be ready to maximize learning time.
Orderliness creates calm and regularity for students, which is especially important for my students, many of whom endured a great deal of uncertainty in their immigration experiences and resettlement in the U.S.
Another item, the word wall container will make it easy to display the English vocabulary that my students are learning. Building academic English vocabulary is crucial to boosting students' capacity to excel in high school, college, and beyond. With an orderly word wall, students can quickly identify the vocabulary they are learning and apply it in class.
These materials will go a long way towards building a fertile learning space for deserving students.
