Have you ever tried to work with a guided reading group, but been interrupted repeatedly by students who don't know what to do in their centers, or where to get the materials that are needed? It's extremely frustrating for everyone involved!
The students in my classroom are diverse to say the least.
We range from students with special needs to gifted and talented students. Our community is growing rapidly and we are seeing a large increase in the population of students who are minority and also qualify for free and reduced lunch. Our school does not yet qualify for Title 1 funds, but we inch closer each year. Our school has just begun purchasing SmartBoards and in the next few years hope to have a board for each classroom.
My Project
During Daily 5 time, I work with students in small groups while the rest of the class works on a variety of literacy activities. Since the needs and abilities of my students vary to a great degree, I need to differentiate the centers. With an organized classroom, my students will know where to go to complete their differentiated activities without interrupting my small group.
Donations to this project will mean that my students with varying abilities, will have an extremely organized classroom so that they know where to go and what to do when completing differentiated activities, while I am working with my small group.
