My Students

As a high school teacher in the Bronx, NY, my students come from many diverse backgrounds. I teach a total of five 9th and 12th grade students. When teaching ICT classes, we require extra supports to meet the same goals as other traditional schools. Students in 9th and 12th grade are transitioning into college soon and need to be properly assessed in order to meet their goals. As an ELA teacher, it is important for me to have materials that aid in student reading and writing growth. I spend most of the school year creating teacher made materials to scaffold and build on their learning. I am aiming to create an environment that students feel included and all needs are met through differentiated instruction and content. Students all learn in different ways and I want to provide as many outlets as possible for my students' success.

My Project

My students need supplies to further assist in their organizational skills within the classroom/life. As 9-12 graders, students will need to become more equipped for the real world known as college soon, and it starts with an organized way of thinking. Color coded paper, sentence strips and organizational wall shelves will aid in students organizing their writing/essays for the next 4 years at our high school. Having students learn in a structured and organized environment aids in their success into adulthood.

Having things as organized as possible can help students with leading a clear state of mind and it a healthy habit to carry into adulthood.
