This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is the epicenter of the community. The families that attend have been doing so for generations. The focus of the school is to provide a quality education to all students.
My students excel despite their home environment which shows their resilience and determination.
These students come to school with achy stomachs and are oftentimes sleep derived. Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment so that each student can feel valued and appreciated. We make sure every minute is used to encourage students to excel.
My Project
While the supplies listed are basic, they are needed in order for my students to be successful. These supplies ensure that students are placed in the right classes in order to graduate on time. The post-it-notes are given to students with short messages that include coping skills and positive affirmations to get them through the day.
These small materials prepare students for life during and after high school.
Study skills and confidence building activities are the keys to the students having the necessary tools to be on track to graduate. Communication with teachers and parents can be a daunting task. These materials will help build relationships with the staff and parents.
