This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My kindergarten students come in with a wide range of knowledge. Some have been to preschool and some have never stepped foot inside a classroom. They come from various social and economical backgrounds. Many of our students are homeless. One hundred percent of the students are on free lunch and for some, school is their safe haven.
The school relies on partners to help fund the food and clothing pantry and outside help to donate supplies throughout the year.
These donations help our students’ families live month to month. For some of the students, the meals they get at school are the only meals they eat.
My classroom is a place the students feel safe and comfortable to be themselves. We are a family.
My Project
I have been lucky enough to receive iPads via Donorschoose and I would like to be able to efficiently charge all the iPads at one time and use the headphones to keep the iPad noise levels manageable during class time.
I have sixteen, eager kindergarten scholars in my class.
Our teachers, parents, and staff share a strong sense of community where we all are working together to meet the needs of each student. My students are very curious, energetic, creative, and enthusiastic about learning and I work to provide them with the very best opportunity to grow, learn, and love being at school.
I feel an organized classroom helps students stay focused on their learning. I want to have a designated and organized space for students to practice their academic skills via iPad apps. This project will help to support that space.
