Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Organization is the key to success. As you know, a well organized classroom tends to flow better. When students have a clean and clear desk, they are able to find their materials with ease. With Ziploc bags, storage containers, and book boxes students will be more focused on tasks.
Our students come from very low income neighborhoods, and often don't have very sturdy schedules.
For this reason, our students thrive on structure, without it they do not function to their full potential. During the school day they feel as though they have control of their learning due to our precise schedules and organization, unfortunately this is the only time many of them feel in control.
My Project
By providing our students with materials to promote organization we have learned that they are more successful. Students will have individual book boxes and storage bins for their supplies. The book boxes will help prevent them from having to be overwhelmed with stacks of books every time they are assigned to read. The storage bins with provide a place for them to keep their crayons, scissors and glue.
Organization is a life skill that will help our students be successful throughout life.
If we prepare them at a young age to categorize and prioritize, I believe that these skills will help them in all aspects in their life.
