Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are kind, patient, hardworking, energetic and determined. I am in my fourth year of teaching, and my students are amazing. I learn something new from them every day. They challenge me to want to do better and stay current. The work ethic and determination my students possess is admirable. As a learning support teacher, many of my students are behind their same-age peers, which can be defeating.

I have broadened my horizons and stepped out of my comfort zone to incorporate more technology and hands-on experiences as well as flexible seating into my classroom.

As a teacher, I must set the stage to engage my students. My students certainly struggle with attention and focus, but with engaging materials and content, they have a newfound confidence that makes all the difference. The attitude changes from "I can't, to I can."

As a learning support teacher, it is important to explore new avenues of teaching and learning. I will constantly do my best to go above and beyond for my students if it means that they know they have someone that cares and believes in them, no matter what.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in the learning of my students by creating an organized environment.

My students struggle with keeping things organized and these resources will allow them to have an individualized space for their supplies.

We are lucky to have Ipads in my classroom, but often struggle with finding a place for storage and charging. The Ipad case will allow my students to have responsibility for making sure it is plugged in and charging daily. The other supplies being requested will allow for learning materials to be displayed on the board. All of the items being requested will enhance overall organization of my students and their learning materials.
