This is my second year of teaching and I'm ready to take what I've learned from my first year and better not only myself, but also my classroom for the upcoming year! I'm teaching 4th grade at a school that has a high enrollment of military family students. Approximately 55% of the schools students qualify for free or reduced priced meals.
My class consists of about 27 students.
At the age 9-10 years old, my students benefit from an organized classroom. That is why my project consists of items that will ensure that our classroom is organized.
My Project
The cashbox, file folders and envelopes are materials that will be used to start a new system for next year called the "classroom economy." This program teaches students how to save money, spend money wisely and how banking works. Students save money to buy items at a classroom auction. They earn money by having classroom jobs, positive behaviors and academic achievements. Not only will this program help manage behaviors within my classroom, but it also aligns with many of the Common Core State Standards.
An organized classroom is important for student learning.
Organization helps with transitions and by keeping a sense of order throughout the classroom. This year, I'm focusing on becoming more organized. I will be able to achieve this goal by using many of the items on this project. The drawers will be useful in organizing items including, pencils, markers, crayons, rulers and protractors.
