Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located on the Southwest side of Indianapolis. My students have not been exposed to preschool so this year is their first time in school and academic rigors. My students have not been to libraries to see the wonderful world of books. My students are living in poverty. I have students who are second language learners and have special needs. Many of my students have special needs. My students are eager and full of energy which needs to be channeled into education.

My Project

I am requesting pencil pouches for each student. The pencil pouches will make it easier for my students to hold on to their belongings (pencils, markers, and crayons). They will learn responsibility through caring for their own supplies. My students come from homes where purchasing school materials becomes a burden when they have to buy the same items over and over again, by having the students be responsible it will take the burden off of parents to continue to purchase materials for their child to use in class. I am also requesting some materials that can be placed at stations in the classroom for students who do not have their own supplies.
