My students need materials such as tubs and labels for stations. In order for their independent practice time to go smoothly, we need to be as organized as possible. With these materials, I believe that we can fine-tune our routine.
As a part of a Title I campus, my students come from a variety of homes and families. A good portion of our students were also affected by Hurricane Harvey, many losing their belongings and homes. For some, school is the only place they feel safe and happy. Despite the challenges they face outside of school, I try to make my classroom a warm and inviting environment to learn and grow for my students.
I try to instill from the very beginning the sense that we are a family and we must support each other by holding each other accountable, showing compassion, and building each other up - ALWAYS.
My students are special in this way because they know what it means to take care of one another and how to be caring and compassionate individuals.
My Project
Students go to stations daily, and in our classroom, they go to stations for both math and reading. Our mornings and afternoons both consist of independent learning time, so this is a huge part of our day.
When it comes to stations, I feel that the more organized the stations can be for the students, the easier it will be for students to access their learning.
With these organization materials, students will be able to fine-tune their independent learning routine and get to stations more quickly and more efficiently.
The large tubs will house the station materials for each station. The labels will help students identify the station and what materials they will need to be successful in each station. The file bins will be a center for completed work to be graded.
