My Students

My kindergartners walk into my classroom every morning with a smile on their faces. They greet each other as if they have been friends since they were born. They come into the classroom ready to learn and exhibit excitement with everything we learn. Most would never be able to guess that a large number of my students do not have stable homes. Some are living in hotels, with other family members, and some are not sure where they are sleeping that night.

My school is a Title I school and every student receives free lunch and free breakfast.

Despite the challenges my students have encountered, they are eager to learn and excited to be in school.

My Project

The Lakeshore Classic Birch Classroom Storage Tray Center and Storage Trays I am requesting will help my students stay organized, as well reduce wasted learning time. Currently in the classroom, we have a similar shelf that has multiple broken pieces, leaving only a few spaces. Within those spaces we have baskets that have color paper tapped on in order to attempt keeping centers organized. Each day the students are mixing up different activities and placing them in the wrong place causing a headache each day at center time.

The shelf and bins will help teach the students to be organized and will add more productive learning time to our day.

The students will no longer need to search for materials and will be able to easier put centers away. This will allow for a much smoother transition.
