As a special education teacher teaching students with Autism, I see students daily who are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my students are eager to learn both academics and life skills in order to create for themselves a better life.
My students are eager learners that enjoy learning about the world around them and being involved in everyday activities.
My students have all been identified with high functioning Autism and are learning to navigate in the world around them. They are very intelligent students, with several also being identified as gifted, who enjoy the things every 4th and 5th grader enjoys.
My Project
Having a neat and organized classroom is essential to a conducive learning atmosphere. In my classroom, we use daily centers to enhance our learning and to continue to practice basic skills. Items are laminated for repeated use and games often have manipulatives that go along with them.
Students with Autism need, and thrive, in a structured, neat, and organized environment.
Organizational tools such as boxes, paper trays, and re-usable envelopes will help to keep necessary items neatly contained and in order.
My students enjoy learning and enjoy the center rotations that they participate in on a daily basis. The requested items will help to teach them independence as they will have easier access to materials and supplies.
