My Students

We are a diverse group of students. Newport, RI has a very unique population. We get students from 3rd world countries that come to us with no English and military families from around the world who are attending school at the Naval War College. I have had to learn little bits of Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Arabic to name a few. Added to that multiculturalism our student population is made up of 20% special education and 65% free or reduced lunch.

I have students from around the world.

This year, I have students from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Jordan, Finland, Egypt, Haiti, Guatemala, Tunisia, Philippines, and Dominican Republic. In the past I have had students from Kuwait, Poland, Germany, Afghanistan, Omar, Brazil, and Chinese.

My Project

Each year I struggle to communicate with so many different languages and differing learning abilities. The resources I have collected throughout these past many years are my savior but they are unorganized and scatter about my room. I am looking to purchase storage crates to organize my library of materials. The students will be able to access the materials easier and quicker. The worksheets will be organized by lesson so the students will be able to find what they need. Each one will be labeled with what is in it. My hope is that the students will be able to help themselves.
