My room is full of bright-eyed eager children who are happy to be at school. I am happy to provide a safe, caring, positive setting for the children to reach their highest potential for the short time we are together. Organization for first grade is key. We work with pencils, scissors, glue, dry erase markers, folders, workbooks, and trade books on the daily. We are busy beavers with no one place to call supplies our home. The crates will be used to store each student's materials to make our room run more efficiently.
My students share table space. Four students are seated at six long rectangular tables. There is no place to put immediate supplies. I'd like to fashion four plastic crates at the ends of each table on the floor so students can quickly gather what they need. In reverse, a quick place to stash materials is needed when a pencil is all that is needed. Having a place close by will save on instructional time, and supplies should last longer. Organizing work space isn't a lesson taught, it's a rote procedure. This is our need. Please help us utilize our time working, thinking, creating, and collaborating rather than worrying about where we can get our hands on our materials.
