The students at my school are from many different backgrounds. Many of them even speak more than one language.
I work with the students who have dyslexia.
Many of them don't like being in class because it is a struggle and they feel like they are not as smart as their peers a lot of the time. This is not at all true. They are very bright and creative thinkers. Their brain just works in a different way causing them to struggle with things like reading and writing.
School can be really hard when you are reading below grade level. Middle school is already difficult academically, socially, and emotionally. The students that I work with have an extra challenge though due to being dyslexic.
My Project
As an interventionist, I have a very limited amount of time with my students. It can be hard to get through all of the components of each day's lesson if things are not well organized.
Organization is key during intervention time.
With these supplies, we will be able to keep each student's materials organized. This will help the groups I work with to stay on track each day and move smoothly through the lessons. Each student will have their own binder in which to keep their reading and writing materials so that it is easy to refer back to previous work and skills they have learned.
Tools such as pencils, highlighters, markers, index cards, student white boards, and expo markers will be used daily by the students as well. The student white boards are a fun and easy way to show work without having to waste paper and run so many copies.
