This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hungry to learn! They love hands-on activities that explore their creativity. They are ready for anything.

I teach in a very low-income area in California.

Many of the students come from families where one or both of their parents are farmworkers. Many of their parents are not educated but want the best for their children. They are very supportive! The area also contains a lot of kids in situations where there are a lot of mental health issues.

The kids come with a lot of baggage, but the students are great and impressionable. Most have never left the neighborhood, so they are very excited to learn about other places and things. I love this group of kids! They need positive influences in their lives, and I am very excited to be one of those contributors. These kids are smart and need to be shown how to be successful and make learning fun!

My Project

My students are loving some of the flexible seating items that I have in the classroom, however, they roll all around the room when they aren't in use. Flexible seating is the key to keeping students engaged, especially with the little ones. They are so busy, that the ability to move around makes learning more accessible for their stimulated little bodies.

A few more wobbly cushions and a storage rack are essential needs for my classrom.

These items will make sure that each student has a comfy place to sit, while working in groups, and the rack will keep all of the cushions safe until our next activity.
