My students need help with organization. The items, such as zipper binders and tab dividers will help us be able to teach students this valuable skill. Students need wobble stools and standing desks as options.

My Students

Our middle school is located on the south side of our town that has 5 other middle schools. We have approximately 500 students in grades 6-8 that attend our school.

We have great diversity in our population, as we have students of several ethnic backgrounds and learning abilities.

We are the middle school for ESL students to attend. Many of our students are on free and reduced lunch and we have approximately 20% of our population that receives special education services.

My Project

Our students need to learn the valuable skill of organization. This helps them not only succeed in school, but in life. Zipper binders and index tab dividers will be used for this and students will be able to explore and learn organization methods that work for them. Our Spanish classroom needs glue, rubber cement, and scissors for hands on projects to help learn the language (such as paper wardrobes with clothing labeled in spanish) that the students create. Options for learning, including the ability to stand at the computer and the ability to move around while sitting are hugely important for some of our students. The Laptop tables and standing desks, ball chair bases and exercise balls (to create ball chairs), and wobble stools will allow this to happen in the classroom. The students that may have been found to be disruptive before, will now be able to stay in the classroom and learn while still moving around or standing. Some students in wheelchairs or those with mobility issues will benefit greatly from having standing desks that are able to be utilized anywhere.
